The purpose of our boxing program is not to help develop fighters in hockey but to help players acquire more confidence, courage and self-discipline. Plain and simple, some players love to give hits in a game but they end up losing control of their emotions when they get hit. Boxing helps players learn to control their emotions and we find that it improves a player’s game intelligence.
Our members learn to read and react more calmly under pressure and our program improves a player’s peripheral vision. Unlike golf, hockey players need a broader vision and players improve their vision by learning to see everything coming at them from the side as well as in front of them. Boxing also helps our players improve their focus and concentration. The players quickly learn to block out all internal and external distractions.
The Kelowna Boxing Club is the largest club for members of British Columbia. It is proud to be producing provincial, national, and world champions on an annual basis. David Habib, the head coach, has been involved with the club for about 28 years as a competitor as well as a Coach. He has been a provincial team coach for several years. Aside from just boxing, the Kelowna boxing club trains about 150 hockey players a year from the NHL to the minor leagues. Like what you hear so far? Contact Us for more information.
